Welcome to The Jen Group

We are a collaborative of compassionate humans working together to promote skills and equity in health and wellbeing

We brought over 60 years of combined experience together to incorporate as a business in December 2020, and we started working full-time as The Jen Group LLP in April 2021. When we get to the point that we can support ourselves financially, we plan to become a not-for-profit agency.

When we were seeking a name we came across the word 'jen'. It is a Confucian term, and is pronounced 'wren', although we aren't pretentious enough to say it like that! It means human heartedness; goodness; benevolence; human-to-human-ness; what makes human distinctively human; that which gives human beings their humanity. Jen is a sense for the dignity of human life - a feeling of humanity towards others and self-esteem for yourself. It sums up everything we are about.

To date we have delivered co-produced and bespoke projects and pre-designed/licensed training courses. All of our work is focused on improving skills and equity across individual and population mental and physical health and wellbeing.

Nell Blane BSc (hons), PGCert, FRSPH, GMBPSS

Trainer and Consultant

I have over 30 years' experience in service delivery, management and training design, delivery and evaluation. I have worked across public, voluntary and private sectors in a range of roles within substance misuse, mental health, homelessness and youth services.
An 'interesting'  family and personal history has given me a detailed insight into many of the areas in which I work.
My values centre on two things: Humility and Humanity. Humility because we are all equal, no-one is better or worse than anyone else. We all have more to learn from each other. I will never put myself above another even if I do have letters after my name! Humanity because people need warm, caring, kind relationships in order to thrive. Without human warmth, we shrivel inside like a plant deprived of sunlight.

I deliver:
- Making Every Contact Count levels 1 and 2, and Training the Trainers
 - Suicide First Aid - Associate Tutor Training Development Programme, Lite and Understanding Suicide Interventions
- Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) - Adult/Youth, Adult/Youth Aware
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Substance misuse
- Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice
-Bespoke training and consultancy

I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society.

Elaine Donoghue

Freelance Administrator

I worked within the live events industry for most of my career and have been lucky to work on some amazing concerts and festivals. As a former “Blockhead” my highlight was meeting the New Kids on the Block! I decided I needed a change when I started a family and have been working in administrative roles within the charity sector. Most recently I supported a team of mental health professionals and have gained important knowledge that has helped me with my own mental health journey.

Shantonu Chundur

Founder & CEO, Confluent Energy

In 2012, aged just 31, Shantonu was asked to go to West Africa to take charge of, and turnaround, a troubled billion dollar deepwater offshore oil project. While he succeeded in doing so, it was not without consequences. A burnout related breakdown at work in January 2013 led to him being hospitalised. What followed was an eighteen month period of recovery that included further residential clinics, intense therapy, varied drug regimes and significant periods away from work. Realising that he needed to radically change his life, in 2014, Shantonu developed his own model of wellbeing, proactive in nature, evidence based, highly personalisable with a dual focus on self awareness and self care. CBTEACH® was born! In late 2014, Shantonu resumed his corporate career and returned to West Africa. 4 years to the month after he suffered his breakdown, Shantonu was appointed to lead the Central & West Africa region, a business generating over half a billion dollars in revenue each year for his company. Shantonu has always recognised the role of the health professionals in his immediate post breakdown care, but credits his long term recovery and ongoing mental fitness to CBTEACH®. He now wants to share CBTEACH® and what he learnt with those who want to proactively improve their wellbeing.
